What is Benue State Revenue Service?

Benue State Internal Revenue Service is a revenue generating agency of Benue State Government charged with the responsibility of collecting taxes and levies due to the state. BIRS is responsible for ensuring the effective and optimal collection, organization, and administration of taxes. It also includes working out revenue plans, providing interpretation for issues concerning tax collection, administration and general tax policy issues from the implementation of tax laws and regulation in Benue State. This is by generating tax assessments and managing payments for and by taxpayers. They provide taxpayers with robust array of services manned by a competent team of tax experts to deliver highest taxpayer satisfaction and best tax administration system equal to none. Thereby, guarantee a fine blend of optimal revenue generation with a tax friendly Benue State.

Taxes collected by Benue State Revenue Service

They include:  

  1. Personal Income Tax in respect of Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE); and direct taxation (Self-Assessment);
  2. Capital gains tax (individuals only);
  3. Withholding tax (individuals only);
  4. Stamp duties on instruments executed by individuals;
  5. Pools betting and lotteries, gaming and casino taxes;
  6. Road taxes;
  7. Business premises registration fee in respect of urban areas as defined by each State, maximum of ( N 10,000 for registration, and N5,000 per annum for renewal of registration) and  rural areas (N2,000 for registration, and  N1,000 per annum for renewal of registration;
  8. Development levy (individuals Only) not more than N 100 per annum on all taxable individuals;
  9. Naming of street registration fees in the State Capital;
  10. Right of Occupancy fees on lands owned by the State Government in urban areas of the State; and
  11. Market taxes and levies where State finance is involved.

  • Under E-Tax Services, click on TCC Application
  • Enter the required details
  • Click on submit

How to make Online Payment

  • Open to https://birs.gov.ng/ on your web browser
  • Under E-Tax Services, click on Quick Tax payment
  • Fill and complete the online form
  • Click on make payment
